But until Sony officially announces details about the new version of the console, we're left just working with the little bits and pieces that we hear through the video game industry grapevine. As far as information dumps go, though, this new one is a gold mine. Giant Bomb (and later supported by sources at Eurogamer) got a hold of some big new information on just what the next Playstation 4 is and -- more importantly -- what it is capable of.
According to the outlet, the next Playstation 4 model is going by the codename "NEO" internally at Sony, although it's unlikely to actually keep that name as it approaches release. But for now, the console referred to as NEO is a big step up from the original Playstation 4, featuring much faster clock speeds, a higher GPU, and an overall higher memory bandwidth. And then of course there's the capable of 4K resolution, which the NEO can use for both filmed content AND games (if the developers opt to go for the higher resolution, of course.)

One of the big factors that both outlets made very clear was that Sony had no desire to splinter the Playstation market, and would not be offering anything special to Playstation 4 NEO buyers that regular Playstation 4 owners wouldn't be able to have as well. That means they'll play the same games and do the same things...it's just that the Playstation 4 Neo will do them faster and, well, better.
We should have more information on the Playstation NEO come June's E3 showcase, in which Sony will have their annual press conference. You can very much expect the Neo to have a showing there.
