Here's the best gaming laptop deal we've seen this Black Friday

To be honest, save for software, the deals this Black Friday for PC gamers haven’t been exactly awesome in the same way a $200 4K TV is. However, we’ve found one deal in particular that could very well be the best you’re going to find until Cyber Monday.

Gigabyte is selling its sharp, 15-inch P55W v6 gaming laptop for just $1,099 to start on NewEgg. It comes sporting a 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) IPS display, a beefy Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB GDDR5) graphics chip to start -- you can upgrade the video RAM and GPU model before checkout.

Considering the laptop normally comes in this configuration starting at $1,499 -- a huge $400 savings, mind -- we’d say this is a pretty enormous deal. Most gaming laptops with Nvidia’s latest graphics inside go for around this price, and even on Black Friday haven’t dropped nearly this far.

  • It's not a gaming laptop, but the Surface Book is still worth consideration

For instance, the Alienware 15, though a much slicker and sleeker device, is selling for $1,299 to start on Dell’s website with much of the same components save for less storage. (This Gigabyte starts with the same 1TB hard drive, but with a 128GB SSD as well.)

Even without direct comparison, the value in this deal is clear in the spec sheet, like its front-facing disc drive that many gaming notebooks of its 15.6-inch size have abandoned. Not to mention plenty of USB 3.0 and a USB-C port in addition to an HD webcam and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

(Plus, you can choose to pick up the 17.3-inch version -- with all of the same hardware inside -- before checkout, increasing the total to just $50 more on NewEgg. Seriously.)

While we have yet to review this very version of the P55W, we did test out the Gigabyte P55W v5 and enjoyed it enough to award it with four stars. Gigabyte’s pedigree of high-value, high-performance laptops that skimp a bit on build quality rings true here, and it’s helped Gigabyte achieve one of the best gaming laptop deals we’ve seen this season.
